These courses are available together as the discounted Lab Director CME Program package or individually. All courses have been approved for CME credit.
The CRI Lab Director CME Program is designed to meet the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) requirement at 42 CFR 493.1405(b)(2)(ii)(B) as a way for Physicians to qualify as the director of a moderate complexity laboratory.
Physicians completing our program will earn 20 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits that meet CLIA requirements and Quality Systems standards in the areas of laboratory practice and director responsibilities. The Lab Director CME Program covers all of the topics required by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the novice laboratory director, combining interactive exercises with self-paced learning activities in a flexible on-line format.
Please note that only licensed MDs, DOs, or DPMs may use CME credits as a means to qualify as a laboratory director for a moderate complexity laboratory. Nurses and nurse practitioners may take these courses for CME credit, but the program will not confer qualification as a laboratory director. Participants in the Lab Director CME Program have up to one year from enrollment to complete the program.
This CME activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of patient care, practice-based learning and systems-based practice.
This enduring material activity, Laboratory Director CME Program, has been reviewed and is acceptable for credit by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Term of approval begins 10/01/2017. Term of approval is for one year from this date. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Approved for 20.0 AAFP Prescribed credits.
AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
