MLE CEexpress 6 contains two articles about measuring and evaluating red blood cells. This course provides an overview of the red blood cell (RBC) portion of the complete blood count (CBC). Part 1 describes the numerical values associated with RBC counts and indices, how those values are obtained, and how they correlate with cell morphology and function. Part 2 includes example photos, and describes the microscopic appearance of normal and abnormal red blood cells on a peripheral smear and the clinical significance of the observed results.
