This recorded webinar will alert laboratorians to errors that occur in the pre-analytic phase of testing, the phase where it is most common for laboratory errors to happen.  Actions, tools and corrective activities which can be utilized to reduce or prevent these errors are discussed.

Participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate which testing phase is most prone to laboratory error
  • Outline areas in the pre-analytic phase where laboratory errors most commonly occur
  • Formulate and apply corrective actions to avoid these errors

Dr. Daly is a pathologist who currently resides on Marco Island, Florida.  Dr. Daly practiced pathology in Durham, North Carolina, specializing in clinical pathology.

Dr. Daly is a New York City native and a graduate of Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.  After a residency at Duke University and a tour in the US Navy, Dr. Daly returned to Durham, NC where he practiced both community and academic pathology, retiring in 2009 as Director of Laboratories for the Duke University Health System.

Dr. Daly has had extensive experience managing and advising laboratories of all sizes, from physician office and health clinic laboratories to high volume high complexity laboratories.
