Who can benefit from this Course of Study?
New and existing personnel in facilities that perform moderate complexity laboratory tests using a microscope, including “providers” in facilities holding a CLIA Provider-Performed Microscopy Procedures (PPMP) Certificate.

A provider is:

• A physician
• A midlevel practitioner (nurse midwife, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant)
• A dentist

The list of PPMP tests is:

• Wet mounts, including preparations of vaginal, cervical, or skin specimens
• All potassium hydroxide (KOH) preparations
• Pinworm examinations
• Fern test
• Post-coital direct, qualitative examinations of vaginal or cervical mucous
• Urinalysis; microscopic only
• Fecal leukocyte examination
• Qualitative semen analysis; presence and/or motility of sperm only
• Nasal smears for eosinophils

This course of study is a combination of existing CRI^® products packaged to meet the specific needs of facilities that perform microscopic tests on patient specimens.

You will learn:

• How to properly register your facility with CLIA to perform microscopy tests
• How to properly perform PPM procedures
• Proper safety precautions for laboratory testing

This course of study includes 2 courses that have been approved for P.A.C.E.® credit. There are no prerequisites for this course of study.
